1656 CON UNIT

LANCASTER

After spending about 2 and a half months at Whitchurch (81OTU) training In Whitley bombers he then went to a Conversion Unit (1656 Con Unit) on Lancasters at Lindholme near Doncaster in April 1943. After 3 to 4 weeks on conversion he was posted to 100 Squadron RAF at Waltham just outside Grimsby on 11 May 1943.
