Extensive accomodation area for 4th Air Depot Group
at the foot of Mount Louisa

 

Some famous Hollywood stars appeared at Helton Hall, which is the large building running left to right, which is located slightly to the left of the centre of the above picture. Stars including John Wayne, Joe E. Brown, Gary Cooper, Una Merkel and Phyllis Brook put on shows for the 'boys' living at the base of Mount Louisa. My rough estimation, would put Helton Hall in the vicinity of today's Etheridge Street at Mount Louisa, somewhere near the bend in the road. Does anyone have a more accurate estimation?
