After my Grandfather's (Neil Fairholm Scott) first wife Mary Gardner Laird Simpson died, he remarried to a lovely lady - Maggie Gerrard Innes. She was also known affectionally as Daisy.

Maggie was brought up by her Maternal Grandparents and her Aunts and Uncles in Aberdeen. This came about because of Maggie's mother Margaret Ann Innes (nee Gerrard) dying at an early age. The family was split up between the Gerrard and the Innes families to help look after them. This was also around the time when her father John Whyte Innes who was a policeman in Glasgow, also went to Canada and then to war.

Her father remarried later on and some of the family went to join him in Canada, but Maggie and her older brother George stayed in Scotland.

Maggie eventually came to New Zealand where one of her Aunt's Edith Third (nee Gerrard) was already living.

Maggie then married my Grandfather, and along with having 4 children of her own to bring up she also brought up the children of Neil's first marriage. Adam, Isobel and my Mother, who always thought of Maggie as their Mother and she treated all the children the same.

Going back on the Gerrard line, I have not yet been able to identify the correct parents of John Gerrard who is suppose to have married Ann Watt. Nor have I been over the years to been able to locate their marriage or their son's George's birth. All documentation states they were married and that George was born also in Scotland, they just may never have been registered.
