Need more information. Have recorded as Aberlour just because he was living there.
Approx year is also based on his Headstone record saying he was 80 when he died in 1823.
this may also be incorrect and he may well have been aged around 60 instead.

Sergeant in HM 42 Regiment Foot as per his son Robert's death certificate, Burial record also says he was a Sergeant.
The 42nd was also known as the "Black Watch"
Prior to 1800 few records exist for the 42nd Regiment - what there is are now available in FindmyPast of which I have searched all records relating to an Angus McDonald and various spellings.
It is hard to know which battles Angus was involved with, but could have been the Napoleonic Wars, but could also have been with the regiment when the involved in the American War of Independence. The Regiment took part in the successful action at Broklyn, New York against George Washington's forces in 1776 and undertook much skirmishing against the rebels during the raminder of that war.
I have found 3 Angus McDonald's listed on discharge as being Sergeant's, None of them in the 42nd Regiment nor do dates of age seem to fit. More research needs to be completed to identify Agnus McDonald correctly in the Military records.
