It appears that sometime between the death of daughter Harriet in 1879 and birth of Robert in 1880, the family moved to New Zealand and first settled in Oamaru.



Lewis died on 29 Jul 1940 at Titri, Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand , at age 64 years, 5 months and 24 days.2

On July 29 1940 at Dunedin, 23244 Private Lewis Popham, 19th Reinforcement. Beloved son of the late Charles Richard and Harriet Popham, South Dunedin and loved brother of Mesdames Wilkins (Invercargill), Williams (Benhar), Ross and Todd (Dunedin) and Mr C Popham (Titri ) in his 66yrs.
