     Research Note: c 1889

It seems from the records that the family moved to Ireland for a time. Agnes was born in Scotland but Isabella, Janet and Margaret all in Ireland. I have searched on the Irish site and cannot locate or id their births at this stage. They were definately back in Glasgow for the 1901 Census.

As I cannot locate information about James after Isabella died, and it seems the Brown family took in the younger members as part of their own family, that perhaps James either returned to Ireland, remarried or he definately moved from Glasgow.

James appeared on the 1901 Scottish Census of 31 Mar 1901 at 136 Caledonia Rd, Govan, Lanarkshire, Scotland , also listed in the household was Isabella, James and Margaret ;
McFARLANE James, Head, 43, Pastry Cook, Glasgow Lanark
McFARLANE Isabella, Wife, 42, Dykehead Lanark
McFARLANE James, Son, 20, Pastry Cook, Glasgow
McFARLANE Margaret, Dau, 7, Scholar, Ireland.8

James McFarlane witnessed the death of Isabella McFarlane on 20 Nov 1905 Crossingloof Building, Crossingloof, Cathcart, Renfrewshire, Scotland ,
Isabella McFarlane, (Married to James McFarlane, Pastry Cook Journeyman)

Parents: Alexander Gardner, Canal Boatman (dec) & Helen Gardner MS Provan (dec)

James McFarlane, Widower was present when she passed away.2,9

James died a 1926 at Scotland

Uncertain when and where James has died at this stage. It appears from the marriage notices of his daughters that he most likely is no longer living in Glasgow and perhaps not even in Scotland. He is listed as still being alive on Janet's marriage certificate in 1926.
He may have remarried and moved away making it harder to locate him.

James and Isabella had 6 known children.
