The RAAF set up No. 104 Radio Direction Finding Station on Castle Hill on 18 April 1942.  It comprised a modified Gunlaying Radar which did not operate successfully on Castle Hill.  It was eventually relocated to a more suitable location at Kissing Point.

It later became know as No. 57 Radar Station.
