Iron Range Airbase
Carved in the Cape York Jungle 1942-1945
by Michael D. Musumeci

The book is an extensive and exhaustive historical book about the military history of Iron Range, Cape York Far North Queensland.

The book contains over 40 veterans' compelling stories, as well as 300 photos, many that have never been released. The book is one of the most in-depth, compelling Iron Range collections ever achieved.

The two WW2 airfields at Iron Range were named "Claudie" and "Gordon". Major bombing missions were commenced from these two airfields on Japanese installations in Papua and New Guinea during WW2.

There were several dramatic aircraft crashes in the vicinity of the Iron Range Airbase and many brave men were tragically killed.

Collection includes extensive research, historical facts, recorded plane crashes, events and also a now and then section.

A must for any military buff, or anyone interested in the military history of Far North Queensland.
