An Anti-aircraft Operations Room was established in the Preston Town Hall in Melbourne, Victoria in August 1941. Its design was based on the English standards. It was responsible for operation of both AA Gun and searchlight batteries. The Operations Room accounted for all aircraft approaching the defended area including domestic civilian flights and any training aircraft. A searchlight Duty Officer was on duty at the Operations Room during the night and a Gunnery Duty Officer during daylight hours.
