On 31 August 1942 Battery "H" of the US Army Anti-aircraft 208 CA AA CNG departed the South Townsville State School after camping there since March 1942.

I'm not sure whether the above guns were located at the South Townsville State School or elsewhere. The photo below is taken from the corner of the school nearest to Castle Hill. While the shape of Castle Hill looks similar, it is not 100% clear that these are the guns at the school. Can anyone confirm at all?

Plaque donated by the 208th AA Battalion mounted on a wall in the school grounds

The 208th AA Battalion donated a plaque to the South Townsville State School dedicated to the people of South Townsville. It is located on a wall in a garden surrounding in the school grounds. The annual Anzac Day parade is held in this area.
