FORCE LANDING OF A BEAUFIGHTER
AT COOMALIE CREEK

Five Beaufighters from 31 Squadron RAAF based at Coomalie Creek airfield in the Northern Territory made a raid on Langgoer air base on Monday 31 May 1943. They were intercepted by Japanese over the target and chased halfway back by Zeros. McCutcheon in Beaufighter A19-103, was badly shot up and while landing, his undercarriage collapsed. There were no injuries.
