GROUND COLLISION OF TWO CORSAIRS
ON NORFOLK ISLAND
ON 29 SEPTEMBER 1945

On 25 September 1945 two Corsairs of No 17 Squadron Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) were involved in a "collision on ground" on Norfolk Island. 

Corsair # 5642, piloted by F/Sgt A.R. Burns, received damage to right mainframe and Corsair #5645, piloted by F/Sgt H.B. Wisely; received damage to port wing and its airscrew was slightly out of alignment. 

Wisely's report said strip was steel matting covered with 6" growth of wet weeds.
