CRASH OF A WIRRAWAY
10 MILES WEST OF WAGGA, NSW
ON 16 FEBRUARY 1941

Wirraway
On 16 February 1941, Wirraway A20-4 No 2 Service Flying Training School (2 S.F.T.S.) at Wagga, New South Wales struck trees at high speed while diving on a friends homestead 10 miles west of Wagga. The crew of two were killed as follows:-
Pilot Officer Donald Charles Dodgshun (710)
Leading Aircraftman Ian Samuel Gordon (402657)
The probable cause of the accident as listed on the "Preliminary Report (External) of Flying Accident or Forced Landing" states:-
"Disobedience of orders - diving on friend's homestead"
The aircraft was a complete write-off.
