CRASH OF A B-25 MITCHELL
ON BEACH ON PERON ISLAND, NT
ON ABOUT 2 SEPTEMBER 1944

On 1 September 1944, B-25D Mitchell, A47-12  (ex NEI-AF, N5-199) (#43-3625) from 2 Squadron RAAF made an emergency-landing on the beach on Peron Island off the coast of the Northern Territory, about 120 kms south west of Darwin.

B-25 Mitchell A47-6 of 2 Squadron RAAF crashed on 2 Sep 1944 with the loss of two lives whilst on a Search and Rescue mission near Peron Island looking for B-25 Mitchell A47-12.
