CRASH OF A KITTYHAWK
3 MILES SOUTH OF LIVINGSTONE AIRFIELD, NT
ON 16 JULY 1942

P-40 Kittyhawk

On 16 July 1942, USAAC P-40 Kittyhawk, #41-24809, #83 "Mauree" of the 9th Fighter Squadron of the 49th Fighter Group, flown by Lt Donalson, collided with a tree while landing. The aircraft crashed and burnt about 3 miles south of Livingstone airfield. The aircraft was written off.
