Crash of a B-26 Marauder at Kukumbuta, New Guinea on 3 January 1943

CRASH OF A B-26 MARAUDER
AT KUKUMBUTA, NEW GUINEA
ON 3 JANUARY 1943

visits since 6 January 2002

B-26 Marauder "So Sorry", #40-1422 of the 408th Bomb Squadron, of the 22nd Bomb Group crash landed at Kukumbuta, in New Guinea due to AAA damage on 3 January 1943.

Lt. William A. Pappano (0421301) was killed and was buried at the Townsville US War Cemetery on 4 January 1943. It would appear that the other crew member Capt. Gerald J. Crosson survived the crash.
