CRASH OF A GLIDER
NEAR MACKAY, QLD
BETWEEN 16 AND 26 AUGUST 1943

Two US Service personnel were killed when a US Glider crashed near Mackay in north Queensland somewhere between 16 August 1943 and 26 August 1943. One Officer was able to parachute to safety. The glider was being towed from Brisbane and at an altitude of about 4,000 feet its tail broke away.
