CRASH OF A NORSEMAN
INTO THE SEA IN THE VICINITY OF HIGGINS AIRFIELD, QLD?
ON 22 AUGUST 1944

On 22 August 1944, RAAF Norseman A71-1 made a force landing into the sea in the vicinity of Higgins Field with four members of 1 Repair and Salvage Unit RAAF on board. LAC C.D. Searle was killed. Cpl. V.C. Robinson, LAC D.R. Tomasetti and LAC L.J. Hart spent 15 hours in the sea before they were rescued.
