Forced landing of a Fairey Battle approximately 14 miles north west of Port Pirie airfield, South Australia on 5 November 1941

FORCED LANDING OF
A FAIREY BATTLE
APPROX. 14 MILES NW OF PORT PIRIE AIRFIELD, SA
ON 5 NOVEMBER 1941

Fairey Battle L5760 of No. 2 Bombing and Gunnery School (2 BAGS) RAAF made a forced landing approximately 14 miles north west of the Port Pirie airfield in South Australia at approximately 1520 hours on 5 November 1941. The pilot was Sergeant Gilbert Francis Daw (406348) and crew member LAC Robert Stephenson Knott Nugent (407510). Both were uninjured.

This aircraft was later involved in a more serious accident about 3.5 miles west of the Port Pirie airfield on 22 November 1942 killing the pilot and crew member.
