ACCIDENT INVOLVING A BOOMERANG
AT EXMOUTH GULF STATION, WA
ON 19 SEPTEMBER 1943

Boomerang A46-61 of 85 Squadron RAAF, piloted by F/Sgt. G.A. Dean hit a wireless mast while making a low pass over Exmouth Gulf Station in Western Australia on 19 September 1943. The impact tore off a portion of the Boomerang's wing. F/Sgt. Dean managed to fly the aircraft back to Potshot airfield. The damaged wing was removed and sent south by boat for repairs.

A46-61 was later involved in a fatal crash in King Sound, Derby, WA on 3 October 1943.
