Sgt. Sidney John Rex Parsons (404598)
Bonnie Haesaerts from Gardnerville in North Nevada, USA, has contacted for assistance in locating relatives of Sidney John Rex Parsons. Bonnie has located some memorabilia commemorating Sidney John Rex Parsons which she would like to return to members of his family. The items were found in some boxes purchased at a Buy-By-The-Box estate sale a few years ago which resurfaced again after Bonnie moved house. The items include his photograph, a banner, and a wooden plaque mounted and varnished, adorned with what appear to be medals, awards and pins. Bonnie was particularly moved by the writing on the back of the photograph...."My Dear Brother....I love you still."
Sidney John Rex Parsons joined the Royal Australian Air Force in about 1940. He died on Wednesday 25 February 1942, aged 21 years when he was lost over the Irish Sea in England in a Wellington bomber explosion.
Sidney was the son of William John James Parsons and Florence Muriel Parsons, of Hendra, in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. A memorial plaque for Sgt. Sidney John Rex Parsons is located at Reference Panel 113 at the Runnymede Memorial in Surrey, United Kingdom. The Memorial overlooks the River Thames on Cooper's Hill at Englefield Green between Windsor and Egham on the A308, 4 miles from Windsor.
Does anyone know which Squadron Sgt Parsons was attached to?
Can anyone put me in touch with members of the Parsons family
