Approximately 390 US Service Personnel were buried at the Townsville US Cemetery at Belgian Gardens during WW2. These burials were organised by the Graves Registration Section, of the Quartermaster Section of Base Section Two.

In May 1944 the Graves Registration Officer was CW/O M.E. Hintz who was assisted by S/Sgt. T. Toy. Sgt. F.A. Bailey worked at the Graves Registration Warehouse.
