CRASH OF A BRISTOL BEAUFORT
AT BAIRNSDALE AIRFIELD
ON 26 JUNE 1942

Bristol Beaufort

RAAF Bristol Beaufort, Mark V, A9-22 (RAF Serial No. T9561), made a forced landing on 26 June 1942 at Bairnsdale airfield after an engine failure.

The crew at the time of this accident were as follows:-

P/O J.M. Whitworth (pilot)
Sgt. L.S. Vial

This aircraft was delivered to the RAAF in March 1942. It was "not taken up" and the hull was eventually sold to T. Carr & Co. in Sydney in February 1953.
