VOLUNTEER EMERGENCY PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICE
IN AUSTRALIA DURING WW2

During WW2, the Volunteer Emergency Psychological Service visited Hospitals to assess the needs of sick soldiers. In 1941 Elsie Harwood joined the Volunteer Psychological Service and would visit a local Camp Hospital twice per week. She would assess Australian soldiers who had returned from the Middle East to determine their treatment needs. She was also involved in assessing the needs for any new recruits who were experiencing difficulties during their training.
