HMAS BUNGAREE LAYS MINES
OFF THE NORTH QUEENSLAND COAST

HMAS Bungaree layed mines off the north Queensland coast in 1943. Unfortunately, the Minesweeper HMAS Warrnambool (J202) struck one of these mines off North Cockburn Reef on 13 September 1947 and sunk with the loss of 4 lives.
